I Belong Here
The imposter syndrome protocol. For every shoot where you feel out of place.
“I walked into a venue that cost more than my car, past a planner with a headset and a florist team of six, holding a camera I'd bought used. A guest asked which magazine I was with. I almost said “none” and left. My portfolio got me hired. My brain was trying to get me fired.”
You've been told to fake it till you make it. Faking it just adds a second performance on top of the shoot — now you're directing the session and directing yourself.
Imposter syndrome is a comparison glitch. Your brain compares your behind-the-scenes — the nerves, the fumbling, the doubt — to everyone else's highlight reel. But here's the number that matters: 10 minutes. That's how long the fraud feeling survives once you start actually shooting. Action doesn't wait for confidence. Action manufactures it.
“You were hired for what your hands know, Decoder — not for what your doubt says. Let your hands start before your doubt finishes.”— CYNETIS-7
Ten minutes in, you're just a photographer shooting. The venue shrinks to backgrounds and light. Nobody ever knew — because there was nothing to know. You didn't need a bigger portfolio or a fancier logo. You needed ten minutes of shooting.
“Belonging isn't a feeling you wait for. It's a room you walk into.”
The full system — every protocol, the Inner Signal chapter, Snapshot Cards, lifetime updates — lives in the Camera Confidence Guide.
